Raju Srivastava passes away, Live Updates: Comedian’s last rites to take place at Nigam Bodh ghat, Sunil Pal at the crematorium

Popular comedian Raju Srivastava died on Wednesday (September 21) after 41 days of hospitalisation. The 58-year-old comedian had suffered a heart attack on August 10 while working out at a gym in Delhi. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi and underwent angioplasty. Since then, he was on ventilator and never gained consciousness. PM Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders mourned the loss of the comedy king. His funeral will take place at Nigambodh ghat today (September 22). His mortal remains were taken out of AIIMS to his home in Delhi. A familiar face in the entertainment industry since the 1980s, the comedian tasted unparalleled success after participating in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” (2005).Raju Srivastava had also featured in Hindi films such as “Maine Pyar Kiya”, “Baazigar”, the remake of “Bombay to Goa” and “Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya”.
