Sony WH-XB910N review: Gets you grooving
The Sony WH-XB910N headphones come with a multipoint connection feature that allows you to pair the gadget with two Bluetooth devices at the same time. While receiving a call, the headphones know which device is ringing and connects to the right one. We found this feature quite handy while working from home as it was quite convenient to pair the headphones with both laptop and smartphone. The headphones are also Google Assistant and Alexa compatible.
As mentioned earlier, the WH-XB910N headphones are a part of Sony’s Extra Bass series and the sound quality does define that. The output elevates the punch and bass in the music you are listening to. It is worth noting that increased base output does not mean the headphones compromise on vocal clarity or instruments. You can customise the headphones output through the Sony Headphones app that is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The equaliser on the app offers you multiple presets such as Bright, Excited, Mellow, Relaxed, Vocal, Treble Boost and more.
When it comes to active noise cancelling (ANC), the headphones are able to block out the background noise to a great extent. The shape of the ear cups fit in your ear comfortably which enhances the effectiveness of ANC. Apart from this, the headphones also offer Ambient Sound feature that allows you to listen to the sound in the environment by using the two built-in microphones that also help you answer calls.
The Sony WH-XB910N also gets Adaptive Sound Control feature that senses your actions and adjusts the ambient sound settings accordingly. We were not able to notice much difference in the sound quality while using this feature.
Sony also offers a 360 Reality Audio feature that allows you to listen to a music concert as if you are experiencing it live but there’s a catch. The video or audio you are listening to should be specifically designed to offer the 360 degree experience. Sony’s app recommends two apps for experiencing this feature and you need a subscription to use those apps.
When it comes to battery life, Sony claims that the headphones can last up to 30 hours on a single charge. We found the claim to be true but the battery was only able to last without using ANC. The WH-XB910N features a quick charge feature and can offer almost 4 hours of play time with just 10 minutes of charge.
